Collimator Removal for Recoating

  1. Remove 3 cladding panels from back of Deimos to give access to the Counterweight Support Assembly D2215-1.
  2. Rotate Deimos to a mechanical position angle of 0 or 180 per D0002.
  3. Tension Counterweight Support Assembly D2215-1 to support Counterweight Assembly D2210-1.
  4. Remove Locking Dog D2211-6.
  5. Remove Side B Baffle D2251-1 and Baffle Mount Plate D2250-1.
  6. Remove Alignment Jig D2355.
  7. Install Lexan Cover
  8. Remove Lever D2210-1.

  1. Rotate to mechanical position angle of 270 per D0002.
  2. Apply manual brake and lock rotation.
  3. Remove Collimator Hatch D6402.
  4. Attach Spreader Bar D0610-1 per D2100 and tension to support collimator weight
  5. Remove bolts and remove taper pins with slid hammer and fixture.
  6. Lift collimator and cell out of DEIMOS and lay cell on its back.

  1. Pick cell with 4 eye bolts and place on Lifting Spider D2223-1 See General Lifting Plan D2221-1.

  1. Remove Retainer Segments D2205-1 & -2, Retainers D2206-3 and Springs D2206-2.
  2. Loosen Radial Soft Pad D2202 Detail E.
  3. Remove Lexan cover.
  4. Pick Lifting Spider D2223-1 and lower assembly onto Installation Tool D2208-1 (4-step process).

  1. Remove Hub D2217-B, Liner D2210-4, Delrin Pad D2210-5A, and Flange D2210-5B.

  1. Lift mirror and place in crate per D2232.

  1. Reassemble in reverse order.
